The reporting calendar in Georgia: what is filed and when

Most additional assessments in Georgia arise not from a miscalculated tax but from a missed deadline. Reporting here is largely monthly, and the rhythm matters more than the complexity.

Annuallyfinancial statements to SARAS

The specific filing dates are set in the Tax Code and fall on a day of the following month. They belong in a calendar rather than being reconstructed from memory each time.

The monthly cycle

This is the bulk of the work. It covers profit tax on distributions, income tax and pension contributions for employees, and, where the company is VAT-registered, the VAT return as well.

Important: returns are filed in months with no transactions too. A nil return is still a return, and missing it is penalised the same as any other.

The annual cycle

Financial statements under IFRS for SMEs are filed with SARAS. Scope and deadlines depend on the company's category: for a larger business the requirements are stricter, up to a mandatory audit.

What late filing costs

Penalties come in two parts: a fixed fine for the failure to file, and interest on late payment. The second part grows over time, which is why filing late is cheaper than postponing further.

How to stop missing deadlines

  • keep every deadline in one calendar with reminders set in advance;
  • collect source documents through the month, not on the last day;
  • check turnover against the VAT threshold every month;
  • make sure the responsible person actually has RS.ge access;
  • close the month to a procedure rather than when time allows.

We keep the reporting calendar for our clients: we track deadlines, prepare and file the returns, and close the month and the year.
