PTD — the work permit in Georgia (Resolution №70)

PTD (Permission to Work) is the work permit for foreign employees in Georgia. The procedure is governed by Resolution №70.

Who needs it

The permit is required for foreign nationals formally employed by a Georgian company. The legal basis for work has to be in place before the employment starts.

State fees

  • 200 GEL — if the permit is issued on the 30th calendar day;
  • 400 GEL — if it is issued on the 10th working day;
  • for a labour migrant the employer pays; a self-employed foreigner pays for themselves;
  • the fee differs only by issuance time, not by who applies (rule under Resolution №70, Art. 11).

What to keep in mind

The PTD is tied to the employee's stay period and status. An error in the grounds or a missed deadline can lead to a refusal or to reapplying from scratch. That is why the document package is best prepared in advance and as a whole.

We handle the PTD end to end: we check the grounds, prepare and submit the documents, and stay with the case through to issuance. If you have foreign employees, start with a consultation.
